From central Hovden there are marked trails to the nearby summits. The 1068-metre Hartevassnuten is one
of those. Enjoy magnificent views of Hovden and the vast protected areas to the west, Setesdal Vesthei –
Ryfylkeheiane. This is a great family hike, manageable for children aged 5 and upwards. There are some steep
and rocky sections along the path, which takes you from birch forest to above the treeline. In some places it
gets slippery during rain, so we recommend solid footwear. The trail is marked as a round trip, but the fastest
way to the summit is to walk counteclockwise. Here you will find some of the steepest sections of the trail.
The summit awaits you with a stone cairn and a guest book. At the viewpoint you may choose between the
short and the long round trip, provided that you go counterclockwise.
